GLEN CLOVA WALKING WEEKEND
FRIDAY 26TH TO SUNDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2008
Having over the years spent two very enjoyable walking weekends in and around Glen Clova I didn’t need much encouragement to organise a similar trip for a group from our 77 Fitness Club. Our group numbered sixteen including our dedicated minibus driver Jim Harris.
The bunkhouse facilities at The Glen Clova Hotel are excellent and I was able to book four, four bedded, en suite rooms at a cost of £18 per person per night which included, supply of all bedding (own towels and toiletries required) and a full breakfast in the adjacent hotel. We decided for convenience we would eat nightly in the hotel bar where they very kindly reserved tables for us. We also had the use of the large kitchen facilities in the bunkhouse where on our return each day we would enjoy a ‘refreshment’with snacks and some good banter.
Having a minibus and dedicated driver allowed a great degree of flexibility when deciding on daily walks and allowed us to undertake walks where we could be dropped of at one point and picked up at another. For a number of our group this was their first taste of hill or distance walking and each day’s walks were selected with that in mind.
Our walking plan was as follows;
Friday 26th September.
0700 depart Lasswade High School Centre by minibus to Braemar. Dropped at Auchallater for walk via Jock’s Road to Glen Doll. Pick up by minibus in Glen Doll car park.
Saturday 27th September

P.M.(If time permitted); Walk from Glen Clova Hotel to Loch Brandy.
Sunday 28th September;
