GLEN CLOVA WALKING WEEKEND
DAY 2 – P.M.
Saturday 27th September, 2008
Glen Clova Hotel to Loch Brandy
5 Miles
On arriving back at the Glen Clova Hotel it was raining quite heavily, but undaunted some of the group were keen to do an afternoon walk. At about 1530 the rain had all but stopped and we set off to walk up to Loch Brandy. The path from the hotel car park passes up the east side of the bunkhouse through a gate onto the hillside. The path all the way to Loch Brandy has recently been renewed and is clear and easy to follow. On our way up there was a dramatic change in the weather and we found ourselves walking under blue skies in sunshine. The view of the imposing Ben Reid, Laird’s Chamber and Corrie of Clova to the west of the path becomes increasingly impressive as height is gained. On reaching the loch we took the steep path up the Snub.Walking clockwise round above the loch we enjoying some fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. We continued round the loch before rejoining the down hill path on the east side back to the hotel.
Start time 1530 – Finish time 1730 – Breaks 15 mins.
Summary; An enjoyable short walk with good underfoot conditions on an excellent path.
Highs; Well worth the climb up to the loch and up the Snub where the views are amazing.
Lows; None, a lovely short ‘fill in’ walk.
